AGM – New Club President

The Club’s 2017 AGM took place on Saturday 22nd April, and full minutes will be available on request for all members from the Secretary in due course.

However, this year for the first time in many years a postal ballot took place for the position of President. A sealed envelope provided by the independent auditor was opened by the Chairman in the presence of the meeting and the result was:

Mark Wakeland 121 votes
Heather Head 61 votes

Mark is therefore the new President of the club and we look forward to incorporating him into the club’s activities throughout the year. We are delighted to say that Heather has agreed to join the committee and bring her hard work and experience to the club’s events. So we have two new committee members to swell our ranks.

We are delighted with the response to the ballot which was well beyond what anyone was expecting. Thank you to the members for such an enthusiastic response.

However, the two new committee members only replace Mary Thorman and Jackie Green who had left the committee with effect from the meeting and we thank them for their efforts over many years especially Mary who had been on committee for around 27 years. So, overall your committee is still running with 6 vacancies and anyone interested in possibly coming onto committee is welcome to talk to any committee member for more details. Alternatively you may be willing and able to help with specific club activities in which case we’d still love to hear from you.
