On the Thursday evening of our Jubilee, following on from the International Health Symposium, we held a British bar themed evening organised chiefly by Emily Green, Donna Hughes and Abbie Manix. This was well attended and the whole evening, including the ‘pie and pea supper seemed to go down well with most of the overseas and UK visitors and it is not inaccurate to say a good time was had by all. Compere Mark Avery kept things moving when they needed to be and a degree of good hearted banter inevitably ensued.
.
Every dog and person entered the room via the Golden Jubilee arch, ballooned up in our Golden Jubilee colours, which helped set the tone for the night.

In the end time caught up with us and one or two proposed attractions were not able to be accommodated but one that was, courtesy of former World Champion Gary Anderson was a darts activity. Lots of people took up the chance to try their hand and the good news is no one was injured! The Golden Jubilee ‘Gold’ themed pub quiz generated much chatter, and a bit of google cheating was obvious if we’re honest, but even that was taken in good stead due to the overall happy ambience. A few people inadvertently revealed how old they were by working out when ‘Gold’ by Spandau Ballet was released by how old they were at the time but to be honest, most people couldn’t be bothered to do the maths!

Probably the main highlight of the evening was the Parade of Veterans which was well supported and each entered dog received a goodie bag and a rosette presented by Club Patron Maurice Johnson and President Steve Green, who, btw, hadn’t been reminded he was doing this so was embarrassingly casually attired for such an important task. This event was generously supported by Akela Dog Food to whom we are extremely grateful.

Each veteran paraded around the ring, in ascending age order, to much applause and some details about them were read out before they received their prizes and had a photograph taken.
