The Grand Prix Trophy is awarded annually to the overall best working dog of the year at all our club events with working classes of any kind. At each of our Garden Parties there are Agility, Working Cart and Obedience classes and at the Championship Show we have a Limited Obedience Show.
Only one class from each discipline can count from each event and the point s are simply 5 points for a win, 2 for second down to 5 for 5th. In the event of a tie, as our breeds signature event, the Working Cart class points will count double. This scoring tariff is applied at each Garden Party to find the overall working dog of the day.
The trophy itself is a high quality stainless steel, which never tarnished or needs polishing, converted from a momento for our Ruby Jubilee in 2011, kindly donated by the Danish BMD club, DBSK.
There are also Special Prize cards for 1st to 4th place int he annual competition, for the last few years these have been kindly sponsored by Belle Owen.
For 2023 the overall winner, presented in the Main ring at the club’s Championship Show, was My Mia with Belle Owen. Doubly rewarding for Belle, and inspiring for the rest of us, as Mia came to her as a Rescue dog.
